Logran reproducción de guacamayo verde, especie en peligro de extinción

En el Parque Ecológico Ehécatl se logró la reproducción de una cría de guacamayo verde, especie que actualmente está en peligro de extinción, gracias a los trabajos de preservación que se llevan a cabo en el aviario.
Héctor Mota, médico veterinario del parque y encargado del aviario, aseguró que después de dos años de aplicar un programa de reproducción de diversas especies consiguieron el nacimiento de esa ave, una de las de mayor importancia debido a la crítica situación que actualmente atraviesa dicha especie.
Informó que el trabajo permitió integrar dos parejas de guacamayo verde y hace aproximadamente mes y medio consiguieron la primer cría de "Julio César" y "Cleopatra", lo cual es muy complicado y sólo se tiene registro de otro nacimiento en el zoológico de Tamatán, en Tamaulipas.
Las autoridades municipales afirmaron que actualmente el Parque Ecológico Ehécatl está cerrado al público por la contingencia sanitaria provocada por el Covid-19, aunque el personal a cargo de las diversas áreas continúa con los trabajos de limpieza, elaboración de dietas y aplicación de medicina preventiva, con la finalidad de que todos los animales reciban atención adecuada.
Apuntó que próximamente el parque será reabierto al público de manera gradual, conforme lo determinen las autoridades federales, estatales y municipales, para garantizar la seguridad de los visitantes al lugar.
